Selfish ambition

The faculty members in FEBC have this "selfish ambition," in teaching Verbal Plenary Preservation.

Why this small false teaching become so big, and bigger, and bigger than God Himself, because of selfish ambition.

2 Corinthians 12:20

Second Commandment

According to second commandment, we are told not to worship thing:

Do not worship things.

Do not worship even Bible, Bible is a thing God given to His people, Bible is God's Word.

Moses broke the stone tablets, when the people rebelled against God, God did not punish Moses for that, God knew the Word of God is given to man, only the Holy Spirit can make sense to the Word of God in a man's heart. God do not want us to worship His Word!

Verbal Plenary Preservation is a false teaching

A controversial doctrine is at the centre of a legal dispute between a church and its affiliated Bible college, according to the New Paper.

Life Bible-Presbyterian Church has taken the board of directors of Far Eastern Bible College to court in its attempt to force the latter to relocate for spreading deviant teachings. The church issued a writ of summons against the board of the college in September and a pre-trial conference was held on November 12.

The teaching in question, the theory of Verbal Plenary Preservation (VPP), refers to the belief that the infallible and inerrant words of Scripture are found in the Traditional/Byzantine/Majority manuscripts and fully represented in the Printed and Received Text (Textus Receptus) that underlie the Reformation Bibles best represented by the King James Version and not in the texts of Westcott and Hort that underlie the many modern versions of the English Bible like the NIV, NASV, ESV, RSV, TEV, CEV, TLB etc. according to the FEBC website. Thus, proponents of VPP hold that only the KJV is to be used in the Church.

The roots of the dispute were planted when in 2002 Dr Jeffrey Khoo, one of the respondents in the writ and a lecturer at FEBC, started propagating an extreme view of the doctrine at the college, according to a Lianhe Zaobao report on November 11.

This view was unacceptable to Life BPC and some other lecturers who disagreed with the extreme version resigned. Another respondent to the writ, Rev Dr Timothy Tow, who founded the church in 1950, resigned in 2003 and went on to found another church called True Life Bible-Presbyterian Church.

In January 2004, True Life BPC registered the college as a charity organisation without Life BPC's knowledge. On 8 November 2005 the elders of Life BPC stated that they had earlier agreed to put up with doctrinal differences for the sake of church harmony and greater benefit of the Christian belief as long as the college agreed not to use the church's premises to push its agenda. If it did, the elders said they would ask the college to leave the Gilstead Road premises.

July last year, Life BPC stopped the college from having free use of its premises, saying it was no longer linked to it as it was now a charity organisation. In March this year, the church wrote to the college board telling it to leave the Gilstead Road site by the end of June. When the board did not move, the church took legal action, claiming that the college has deviated from the role the church originally planned for it because of its extreme view of the VPP doctrine.

The college board has appealed to the church to respect an agreement made between the two in 1970 which allowed both groups joint trusteeship of the site where the college building sits.

A Brief Summary of Sound Translation Principles

1. A translation should always be based upon the right source text: For the Hebrew Scriptures, (i.e. the Old Testament) the Masoretic Text (Ben Chayyim, Second Rabbinical Edition, printed by Bomberg) is considered to be the Hebrew Text God has preserved for us. Over 1,000 hand-copied manuscripts of this text are still available today. For the New Testament, the Received Text as edited by Dr. Scrivener in 1894 is considered to be the most reliable. There are over 5,700 manuscripts that exist to support this text....

William Carey Bible Society stated in it's website that "...the Received Text as edited by Dr. Scrivener in 1894 is considered to be the most reliable."

Most reliable!!! They never claim perfection for any Received Text!!!

In the weekly this week (http://www.febc.edu.sg/assets/weekly2011/weekly-volviii-no17.htm) the false teachers from Far Eastern Bible College, Singapore, bring up William Carey Bible Society into picture.

The false teachers, Dr Jeffrey Khoo, Dr Quek Suan Yew and Dr Prabudas Koshy are trying to fool us that even William Carey was promoting a perfect Bible like them the false teachers, but not so, William Carey never promote any perfect Bible, even William Carey Bible Society never promote Verbal Plenary Preservation like these false teachers in Far Eastern Bible College, Singapore. The people in William Carey Bible Society just say the Received Text as edited by Dr. Scrivener in 1894 is considered to be the most reliable, ....most reliable, no perfection!

These false teachers wanted to mislead us again!

Errors in King James Version

Read Romans 8:26...the KJV has "the Spirit itself..." This is an error; the Holy Spirit is our God, and we must address Him correctly! How may "itself" be used to approach God, the Holy Spirit? "It" is used to address an item or an animal, not a person or God! The KJV translators had insulted the Holy Spirit! However, in another verse, the KJV translators used the term "him" to designate Satan. What an insult to KJV readers! Read Luke 11:18: "...if Satan also be divided against himself..." The KJV uses the phrase "himself..." when addressing Satan! The KJV translator used "it" for the Holy Spirit, but "him" for Satan!!! Mark 3:28 "Truly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the children of man, and whatever blasphemies they utter, Mark 3:29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin"

Statement

1. The authors of this blog do not believe that the KJV Bible is the perfect Bible. The KJV has problems and inaccuracies because it is a man-made translation. 2. The inerrant Bible is in the autograph. All subsequent copies of Hebrew and Greek manuscripts have God's Written Word. We have God's written Word preserved in the NIV, KJV, and ESV. 3. There is no such notion as Verbal Plenary Preservation on a single TR Greek Text underlying the KJV, and the authors do not believe that the entire Greek text underlying the KJV Bible, or the TR, is error-free. 4. The authors believe that the Bible was inspired verbally and plenarily preserved in NIV, KJV, ESV, NESB….other faithful Bible versions. 5. The authors recommend NKJV, NIV, ESV, and NLT New Living Translation. 6. Our Lord Jesus Christ is the living Word.
