Falsehood of some charismatic churches

Joseph Prince (Among Others) Has Wrongly Divided The Word – By Dr Roland Chia (Dated 14 Jan 2021)

One of the most interesting figures in the history of the early church is Marcion, the son of the bishop of Sinope and respected member of the Christian community. In July, AD 144, Marcion was excommunicated after a public hearing before the clergies of the churches in Rome.

At that hearing, Marcion was asked to expound his peculiar ideas about Christianity, especially his view of the Old Testament and its relationship to the New. Marcion declared that the Old and New Testaments are so vastly different from each other that it is impossible to reconcile them.

He judged the God of the Old Testament to be a somewhat inferior deity, a God of wrath who is preoccupied only with justice. The Old Testament God, he opined, is the God of the Jews.

The God of the New Testament, however, is radically different. He is the God whose very nature is love, the supreme God, whose messenger is Jesus Christ. To Marcion, the God revealed in the pages of the New Testament is a God of goodness and grace, and nothing else.

Consequently, Marcion categorically rejected the entire Old Testament and embraced only the New Testament as authoritative Scripture.

Although Marcionism – as this heresy is later named – appeared in the early period of church history, it has from time to time reared its ugly head in contemporary Christianity, albeit dressed in a different garb.

The most recent instantiation of a version of this ancient heresy is the so-called hyper-grace movement. The way in which hyper-grace preachers view the Old Testament and bits of the New bears remarkable family resemblances to Marcionism.

Marcion would gladly endorse what Andre van der Merwe asserts about the relationship between the New and Old Testaments in his book, Grace: The Forbidden Gospel:

At the risk of sounding critical, it remains a sad reality that the Bible Society chose to combine the Old and New Testaments into a single book. This single decision has caused widespread confusion within the ranks of believers throughout the world. Many of the writings of the Bible before the cross portrays God to be a harsh, cruel being, set on destroying and punishing people if they dared to disobey the set of moral standards represented by the 10 commandments and the other laws (p. 28).

Like the ancient Marcionites, hyper-grace preachers like van der Merwe maintain that the Old Testament should not be regarded as being at par with the New Testament.

But there is an important difference between them.

Unlike Marcion and his followers, the hyper-grace preachers did not outrightly reject the OT as the Word of God, but insist that it addresses only the people of God in the old covenant. Therefore, the OT has nothing significant to say to Christians who belong to the new covenant, the covenant of grace.

There is another difference between the Marcionites and the hyper-grace preachers that should be pointed out.

Although Marcion and his followers rejected the OT, they regarded all of the NT as authoritative and therefore as directly relevant for Christians. The hyper-grace preachers, however, maintain that many of the teachings of Jesus in the Gospels are not directly relevant to Christians because they were delivered before the cross and therefore still belonged to the old covenant.

For the hyper-grace preachers, then, any teaching or command that is recorded before the death of Christ on the cross (which, for them, marks the beginning of the new covenant) belongs to the old covenant. They are not relevant to believers who belong to the new covenant, the covenant of grace.

In a section entitled ‘Rightly Dividing the Word’ in the eighth chapter of Destined to ReignJoseph Prince clearly articulates this point when he writes:

There is a lot of confusion and wrong believing in the church today because many Christians read their Bibles without rightly dividing the old and new covenants. They don’t realise that even some of the words which Jesus spoke in the four gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) are part of the old covenant. They were spoken before the cross as He had not yet died. The new covenant only begins after the cross, when the Holy Spirit was given on the day of Pentecost (p. 92, emphasis in original).

For Joseph Prince, not everything recorded in the New Testament pertains to the new covenant, including most of the teachings of Jesus. According to this way of ‘dividing the Word’, the Beatitudes, the Lord’s Prayer, the commands to love God and neighbour, and the entire Sermon on the Mount are not relevant for Christians! They belong to the old covenant.

Needless to say, this way of ‘dividing the Word’ is antithetical to how the Church has always understood the relationship between the Old and New Testaments. Although the Church maintains that the Old Testament must be understood in light of the New, it has always taught that both testaments belong to the one canon of Scripture, which is the authoritative Word of God for Christians.

In his Small Catechism, the great Protestant Reformer of the 16th century, Martin Luther, describes the Bible in this way:

The Bible gathers together the writings of God’s chosen prophets and apostles over a period of more than a thousand years. Through the Holy Spirit, God Himself gave these writers the thoughts and words they recorded (verbal inspiration), such that the Bible is God’s Word.

Here, Luther stresses that the Bible in its entirety (that is, both the Old and New Testaments) is inspired by God and therefore must be regarded as the Word of God. It is this biblical canon, Luther adds, that ‘gives us everything we need to know and believe for the Christian faith and life.’

This same emphasis on the canon of Scripture is made in the doctrinal standard of the Reformed or Presbyterian Churches: The Westminster Confession of Faith of 1647.

In its treatment of Holy Scripture (Chapter 1), the Confession states that ‘under the name Holy Scripture, or the Word of God written, are now contained all the books of the Old and New Testament.’ After listing the books of the entire Bible, the Confession concludes by stressing that they are ‘given by inspiration of God, to be the rule of faith and life.’

Thus, all the books in the biblical canon are to be regarded as Holy Scripture, the Word of God written. All these books are ‘given by the inspiration of God’. Most importantly, both the OT and NT are to be regarded by Christians as ‘the rule of faith and life.’

And, if this is not clear enough, the Confession further stresses that ‘The whole counsel of God concerning all things necessary for His own glory, man’s salvation, faith and life, is either expressly set down in Scripture, or by good and necessary consequence may be deducted from Scripture …’ Notice that it is in the entire Scripture (not just New Testament) that the whole counsel of God concerning salvation and the Christian life is presented.

In suggesting that the OT and some parts of the Gospel are meant for only the old covenant people of God and therefore not directly relevant for Christians, hyper-grace preachers like van der Merwe and Joseph Prince have radically departed from the Church’s understanding of the canon of Scripture. They have followed in the footsteps of Marcion instead of Luther and Calvin.

Most significantly, they have departed from the Apostle Paul, who in his second letter of his young protégé Timothy stresses that ‘All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work’ (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

May those prophets come to talk to us gently and mercifully

Acts 11:27–28

27At that time prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch. 28One of them named Agabus stood up and predicted by the Spirit that there would be a severe famine over all the world; and this took place during the reign of Claudius.

Acts 21:10–12

10While we were staying there for several days, a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea. 11He came to us and took Paul’s belt, bound his own feet and hands with it, and said, “Thus says the Holy Spirit, ‘This is the way the Jews in Jerusalem will bind the man who owns this belt and will hand him over to the Gentiles.’” 12When we heard this, we and the people there urged him not to go up to Jerusalem.

The church is:

built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. (Ephesians 2:20).

  • 1 Jn 4:1
  • Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

Two or three prophets should speak, and the others should weigh carefully what is said.

  • God may have sent someone like the person below to talk to you:

DO NOT FEAR

 Isaiah 41:10

So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Prayer for BPC to unite as one

Heavenly Father, Yahweh our God, You have created mankind, and You have given us Your Son Jesus Christ as our Saviour and Redeemer. We thank You for forgiving our sins and saving our souls. God, we are now in trouble because we have turned away from You. We need your mercy and grace to continue the walk on this earth.

God, if You are listening to us, please search our hearts, and remind us that we are one in Jesus Christ. Even though we are different. Please bring us together in Jesus Christ, in fellowships, prayer meetings, Bible Study, friendship, so that we can love one another. Let us see eyes to eyes, walk with hands in hands, helping one another as pilgrims on earth, accepting one another, and praying together as one family.

I now pray for Bible Presbyterian Church located in Singapore, bring us the joy of brotherhood, and share the same wine and bread together. Let us come together as one family again, let us rejoice in You. Give us illumination of the mind and heart. So that we understand that You are our Father, and we are your children, let us live joyfully on earth, and joyfully serving You and our neighbors.

I now pray that You take away all the hindrances, all the stumbling blocks in BPC located in Singapore. So that your children can come together as one family and one body, with different members, different races, and different backgrounds.

In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I command all the evil spirits, demons, devils, Satanic force to be cast out from Bible Presbyterian Church located in Singapore. No matter who they are, whether they are theologians, pastors, elders, deacons, leaders of Bible Presbyterian Church, I pray, may the Good Lord Jesus Christ, free all of us from the bondage of sin, false doctrines, false teachings, self-centeredness, the greed of power and authority, lust and pride. Please cleanse us with the Blood of our Lord Jesus, renew us with the Holy Spirit, sanctify us with Your Word.

May the Lord Jesus Christ bound and cast these all these spirits and hindrances, cast them away from Bible Presbyterian Church, and make Bible Presbyterian Church, united, faithful, humble and, diligent, serving the Lord, caring for the poor and needy, and the community surrounds us. May Your Name be glorified in us.

I pray in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Dogs

Revelation 22:15: “For without [are] dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.”

Philippians 3:2: “Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision.”

Matthew 18:6

“If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.” (Matthew 18:6)

100% purified water

One day, a sick man went to see a doctor

The sick: Doctor, I am sick.

Doctor: Let me check...You are dehydrated, you need to drink more water.

The sick: What kind of water, should I drink?

Doctor: You have to drink purified water, 100% purified, perfect water.

The sick: May I take Essentia Ionized Water? Because I have one at home. That Only purified 99.9%.

Doctor: No, you must not drink that water, you must drink 100% purified water. Not any water, you will die after if drink other kinds of water, for instant 99.9% purified water! That is not good enough, you must drink 100% purified water. Do not say I did not tell you this.

Above is an illustration: How a theologian in a Bible College in Singapore told his students to read KJV only. The theologian told his students, other Bible versions like NIV, ESV, CUV...are not 100% purified like KJV! In order for one to be saved, he or she must read the KJV because the underlying Greek Text of KJV is purified 7 times, 100% perfect. This is how internal warfare began in BPC. The BPC infighting began and this issue of the "perfect Bible" split the Bible Presbyterian churches in Singapore. All because 99.9% is not good enough! We must read the 100% purified perfect Bible. That 0.01% is so important. Theologians fight until today. BPC cannot be united as one, because of that 0.01%. Please look into our hearts first, our hearts 100% pure? 100% Purified? Without sin and iniquity? Full of love? Full of truth? Full of hope? Full of faith? Full of the Holy Spirit?

Satan has asked to sift all of you

 Luke 22:31-32

31 “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked

to sift all of you as wheat.

32 But I have prayed for you, Simon,

that your faith may not fail.

And when you have turned back,

strengthen your brothers.”

Splitting a church because of one minor issue is the work of the devil! Splitting a church because of one personal view-"Verbal Plenary Preservation" is the work of the devil! Many have fallen into the trap of the devil, to split the church!

Satanic theologians sifting our BPC churches?

This is one of Quek Suan Yew's writings revealing his evil intentions, the paragraph below is quoted from his weekly at: https://cpbpc-documents.s3-ap-southeast-1.amazonaws.com/Worship/pnw.pdf

Notice the word “sieve” used by Quek Suan Yew in the weekly below:

“There are millions of examples throughout the history of the church where powerful men thought they could outwit God by hurting and killing God’s faithful children. Not one has succeeded. Every single one of them devised his evil ways but the LORD directed his steps. Even when thousands of God's servants were martyred for their faith, their martyrdom was the day when all of them were called home to glory, exactly according to God’s plan for His children. The outcome will always be such that even the wrath of evil men will praise the LORD. Psalm 76:10 “Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain.” Man may weave their evil plans but the LORD will surely sieve them out and permit only that which will accomplish His holy will, especially in the lives of all His faithful children. Amen.”

English Definition of “sift” and “sieve”

a: to put through a sieve, sift flour; b: to separate or separate out by or as if by putting through a sieve.

A sieve is a tool you would use to separate smaller, finer pieces from larger pieces. It is a noun. Sift is the action of using a sieve. Sift is a verb and sieve is a noun.

For example: "Can you use that sieve to sift through the flour."

My response to him:

Only Satan does the kind of sifting to believers in the church, please read, “And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:” (Luke 22:31.  KJV)

Quek Suan Yew has taken action to sift Mandarin-speaking brothers and sisters from his church, he chased them out because the mandarin congregation's pastor did not support Verbal Plenary Preservation. He separated those proponents and opponents of Verbal Plenary Preservation in his church. He oppressed, abused and bullied those opponents of Verbal Plenary Preservation until they left the church!

Quek thought God will sift those opponents out of His Church! So he did it himself. This is where he gets his gun powder to shoot his brothers and sisters in Christ, this is simply satanic I say.

God never does this kind of sifting to His own church. Sifting among the brothers and sisters? Sifting the Christian Churches? Splitting the invisible church? No! He wants to unite His church as one. The church is one Body in Christ. In the next verse, Jesus said, “But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers’ (Luke 22:32). He wants Peter to bring the church together.

Yes, God is sifting the believers from the unbelievers in the end. Never did, God sifts believers from believers, there is a case of temporal separation, but that is not permanent. After a sinful brother repents from his sins, he will be received back into the church. Furthermore, it is not a sin to reject unbiblical, personal opinions or views like Verbal Plenary Preservation. Verbal Plenary Preservation is not an issue of the life and death of a believer!

Why Quek Suan Yew has that kind of mentality, “sifting” church members because of Verbal Plenary Preservation?

Here is a hint, he has devils in his heart. This is satanic. We read, only Satan sifts believers. God sifts unbelievers from believers in the end.

The false theologians are misleading the BPC church, using Bible verses to support their “separatist stand,” so that BPC can be separated one from another, according to their devilish intention hidden in their hearts.

These false theologians are trying to downplay the BPC’s unity. Labeling those who oppose his personal view - Verbal Plenary Preservation to be chaff, and to be sifted by God! This is evil! Hurting the body of Christ!

My Conclusion:

False doctrine brings up a false theologian, but all are satanic!

Westminster Confession of Faith 20:2

Chapter 20 - Of Christian Liberty, and Liberty of Conscience.

Section 2.) God alone is Lord of the conscience,(1) and hath left it free from the doctrines and commandments of men, which are, in anything, contrary to His Word, or beside it, in matters of faith or worship.(2) So that to believe such doctrines, or to obey such commands out of conscience, is to betray true liberty of conscience:(3) and the requiring of an implicit faith, and an absolute and blind obedience, is to destroy liberty of conscience, and reason also.(4)

My response:
To believe such doctrines like Verbal Plenary Preservation, or to obey such commands out of conscience, is to betray true liberty of conscience.

(3) and the requiring of an implicit faith, and an absolute and blind obedience, is to destroy liberty of conscience, and reason also.(4)

Is the King James Version of the Bible the most accurate translation?

Assure Them These Issues Aren’t New

Christians who worry about the “omissions” in new translations are usually the kind of people who have a respect for the old and reservations about the new. That’s why it can be helpful to assure them that though these issues might be new to them, they are not new to the church.

For example, while recently studying the “missing” ending of the Lord’s Prayer, I discovered that William Tyndale didn’t include it in his first English translation of the Bible in 1526. Knowing that Tyndale is someone my congregation reveres as a godly martyr as well as good translator, I made sure to share this fact with them.

I’ve also found it useful to point out that the original King James Version included textual variants in the margin, and the King James translators defended this practice against the same objections people still have:

Some peradventure would have no variety of senses to be set in the margin, lest the authority of the Scriptures for deciding of controversies by that show of uncertainty, should somewhat be shaken. But we hold their judgment not to be so sound in this point.

If it was good enough for the King James translators, it’ll likely be good enough for them.

Justin Dillehay (MDiv, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary) is a pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Hartsville, Tennessee, where he resides with his wife, Tilly, and his children, Norah, Agnes, and Henry. He is a contributing editor of The Gospel Coalition.

Observation: This means that the original translators of the KJV did not see the underlying Greek text of the KJV as perfect without variants. They were not sure in some places. The 1611 KJV has textual critical notes, places where the translators or editors felt it important to tell readers when the Greek New Testament manuscripts to which they had access included variant readings. Such notes are not a new invention.

Let go our pride and let God lead us!

Matthew 6:33
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

A sign in the sky

I am waiting for a sign in the sky, to continue the writing, have to wait a while.

Apostle Judas Iscariot

One thing comes to my mind.

Judas Iscariot was under Jesus' instruction. He was listening to His commandments, like the other Apostles, under constant learning for more or less 3 and half years. He is called one of the Apostles, in the end, Satan entered his heart!

John 13:2

The evening meal was in progress,
and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus.

Then Luke wrote, Judas Iscariot was one of the Apostles, even that, Satan entered his heart.

Luke 22:3
3 Then Satan entered the heart of Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve apostles.

We have to be very careful about this!
This applies to theologians in Far Eastern Bible College, and ministers in Bible Presbyterian Church. And all the servants in the church!

21.6.21

There is not even one perfect man on earth in these last days

I have met so many fundamentalists in my whole life, some of them are very hard working, but i find one thing under the sun, no one is perfect, all have sinned.

Paul's words are true until today.

Ephesians 2:8-9
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—
and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—
9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

He continues in Romans chapter 3

No One Is Righteous
9 What shall we conclude then? Do we have any advantage? Not at all! For we have already made the charge that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under the power of sin.

10 As it is written:

“There is no one righteous, not even one;
11 there is no one who understands;
there is no one who seeks God.
12 All have turned away,
they have together become worthless;
there is no one who does good,
not even one.”[b]
13 “Their throats are open graves;
their tongues practice deceit.”[c]
“The poison of vipers is on their lips.”[d]
14 “Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.”[e]
15 “Their feet are swift to shed blood;
16 ruin and misery mark their ways,
17 and the way of peace they do not know.”[f]
18 “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”[g]

19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. 20 Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.

No one is perfect in the sight of God, accept the one and only Jesus Christ.
I find no perfect fundamentalist on earth! All are sinners!

Paul continues to write in Romans 4:7,

“Blessed are those
whose transgressions are forgiven,
whose sins are covered.
8 Blessed is the one
whose sin the Lord will never count against them.”

Romans 9

15 For he says to Moses,
“I will have mercy on whom I have mercy,
and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”[f]

16 It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God’s mercy. 17 For Scripture says to Pharaoh: “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”[g] 18 Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden.

19 One of you will say to me: “Then why does God still blame us? For who is able to resist his will?” 20 But who are you, a human being, to talk back to God? “Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it, ‘Why did you make me like this?’”[h] 21 Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for special purposes and some for common use?

No one is perfect on earth in the last days! We are saved by grace.

Onoda did not know the second world war is over

Onoda continued his campaign as a Japanese holdout, initially living in the mountains of Lubang Island in the Philippines, with three fellow soldiers (Private Yuichi Akatsu, Corporal Shōichi Shimada and Private First Class Kinshichi Kozuka).[6] During his stay, Onoda and his companions carried out guerrilla activities and engaged in several shootouts with the local police.[7]

The first time they saw a leaflet announcing that Japan had surrendered was in October 1945; another cell had killed a cow and found a leaflet left behind by islanders which read: "The war ended on 15 August. Come down from the mountains!"[8] However, they distrusted the leaflet. They concluded that it was Allied propaganda and also believed that they would not have been fired on if the war had indeed been over. Toward the end of 1945, leaflets were dropped by air with a surrender order printed on them from General Tomoyuki Yamashita of the Fourteenth Area Army. To the men who had been in hiding for over six months, this leaflet was the only evidence they had that the war was over. Onoda's group studied the leaflet closely to determine whether it was genuine, and decided it was not.[1][failed verification]

One of the four soldiers, Yuichi Akatsu, walked away from the others in September 1949 and surrendered to Philippine forces in 1950, after six months on his own. This seemed like a security problem to the others and they became even more cautious. In 1952, letters and family pictures were dropped from an aircraft urging them to surrender, but the three soldiers concluded that this was a trick. Shimada was shot in the leg during a shoot-out with local fishermen in June 1953, after which Onoda nursed him back to health. On 7 May 1954, Shimada was killed by a shot fired by a search party looking for the men. Kozuka was killed by two shots fired by local police on 19 October 1972[7] while he and Onoda, as part of their guerrilla activities, were burning rice that had been collected by farmers. Onoda was now alone.

On 20 February 1974, Onoda met a Japanese man, Norio Suzuki, who was traveling around the world, looking for "Lieutenant Onoda, a panda, and the Abominable Snowman, in that order".[4] Suzuki found Onoda after four days of searching. Onoda described this moment in a 2010 interview: "This hippie boy Suzuki came to the island to listen to the feelings of a Japanese soldier. Suzuki asked me why I would not come out...".[1] Onoda and Suzuki became friends, but Onoda still refused to surrender, saying that he was waiting for orders from a superior officer. Suzuki returned to Japan with photographs of himself and Onoda as proof of their encounter, and the Japanese government located Onoda's commanding officer, Major Yoshimi Taniguchi, who had long surrendered and since become a bookseller. Taniguchi went to Lubang Island, and on 9 March 1974, he finally met with Onoda and fulfilled a promise he had made back in 1944: "Whatever happens, we'll come back for you". Taniguchi then issued Onoda the following orders:

  1. In accordance with the Imperial command, the Fourteenth Area Army has ceased all combat activity.
  2. In accordance with military Headquarters Command No. A-2003, the Special Squadron of Staff's Headquarters is relieved of all military duties.
  3. Units and individuals under the command of Special Squadron are to cease military activities and operations immediately and place themselves under the command of the nearest superior officer. When no officer can be found, they are to communicate with the American or Philippine forces and follow their directives.[9]

Onoda was thus properly relieved of duty, and he surrendered. He turned over his sword, a functioning Arisaka Type 99 rifle, 500 rounds of ammunition and several hand grenades, as well as the dagger his mother had given him in 1944 to kill himself with if he was captured.[10] Only Private Teruo Nakamura, arrested on 18 December 1974 in Indonesia, held out longer.

I have met so many theologians in my whole life, fundamentalists, liberals, evangelicals, etc. God knew who are they.

If i keep on throwing stones at every barking dog, i will not reach my destiny in the end.

So, I remember one thing, the war between brothers and sisters in Christ is over because of Jesus Christ, he has brought us together.

And then, we are to keep on teaching the whole counsel of God, keep on holding the truth, keep on preaching Christ, keep on loving one another.

1 Peter 4:8
Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.

The Eternal Purpose of God in Christ

The Eternal Purpose of God in Christ 1. God in the Beginning The foundation of all truth begins with this simple statement: In the beginning...
