The Story of BPC

Dean Burgon Oath obeyed by BPC and Far Eastern Bible College

Dean Burgon Oath
I swear in the Name of the Triune God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit that I believe "the Bible**** is none other than the voice of Him that sitteth upon the throne. Every book of it, every chapter of it, every verse of it, every word of it, every syllable of it, every letter of it, is direct utterance of the Most High. The Bible is none other than the Word of God, not some part of it more, some part of it less, but all alike the utterance of Him that sitteth upon the throne, faultless, unerring, supreme." So help me God, AMEN.

Beware:  The Bible here refers to TR underlying the KJV.

Verbal Plenary Preservation

FEBC, which embraces the VPP doctrine based on the Westminster Confession of Faith which at Article 8 of Chapter 1 states that the inspired OT and NT Scriptures in the original languages are "by His [God's] singular care and providence, kept pure in all ages", teaches that God has supernaturally preserved each and every one of His inspired Hebrew/Aramaic OT words and Greek NT words to the last jot and tittle so that God's people will always have in their possession His infallible and inerrant Word kept intact without the loss of any word, and that the infallible and inerrant words of Scripture are found in the faithfully preserved Traditional/Byzantine/Majority manuscripts and fully represented in the Printed and Received Text (or Textus Receptus) that underlie the Reformation Bibles best represented by the KJV, and NOT in the corrupted and rejected texts of Westcott and Hort that underlie the many modern versions of the English Bible like the NIV, NASVESVRSVTEVCEVTLB, etc.[101] The Board of Elders of Life BPC disagreed.[102]
The Bible-Presbyterian churches (Singapore), which had their Synod dissolved in 1988 because of disagreements, were again split with one group aligned with the founding pastor Timothy Tow embracing VPP, and another group not aligned with him taking the non- or anti-VPP position.[103]
The church and the college had shared premises at 9, 9A and 10 Gilstead Road (the "Premises"). In 2008, due to the disagreement on VPP, the church sued the college's directors, including Timothy Tow (the church's founding pastor), in Suit 648 in the High Court over allegedly "deviant Bible teachings" in an attempt to force FEBC to leave the Premises.[104] However the church failed as the Court of Appeal of Singapore, the apex court in Singapore's legal system, held, inter alia, on 26 April 2011 that:[105]
  1. "the VPP doctrine is actually closely related to the VPI doctrine which both parties [i.e., the College and the Church] adhere to,” (rejecting the Church's contention in [59] of the Court of Appeal Judgement that it is “an entirely different creature from the VPI doctrine)";”
  2. "the College, in adopting the VPP doctrine, has not deviated from the fundamental principles which guide and inform the work of the College right from its inception, and as expressed in the Westminster Confession;"
  3. "[i]t is not inconsistent for a Christian who believes fully in the principles contained within the Westminster Confession (and the VPI doctrine) to also subscribe to the VPP doctrine;" and
  4. "[i]n the absence of anything in the Westminster Confession that deals with the status of the apographs, we [the Court] hesitate to find that the VPP doctrine is a deviation from the principles contained within the Westminster Confession."
However, even after the Court of Appeal of Singapore had ruled that the VPP doctrine is not deviant, Life BPC continues to regard VPP as heresy since the paper "Mark Them Which Cause Divisions" issued by its Pastor and Elders dated January 2008[106]—rebutted by the Rev Dr Jeffrey Khoo in "Making the Word of God of None Effect"[107][108]—is still on its website more than five years after the apex court's ruling.

Temple of War in Singapore

“There is a wide-spread ignorance among professing Christians–every heretic who speaks well is surely believed, and anyone who doubts him is called narrow-minded and unloving.” (JC Ryle)

be the first to throw a stone

Lisa felt no sympathy for those who cheated on their spouse . . . until she found herself deeply unsatisfied with her marriage and struggling to resist a dangerous attraction. That painful experience helped her gain new compassion for others and a greater understanding of Christ’s words: “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone” (John 8:7).

Jesus was teaching in the temple courts when He made that statement. A group of teachers of the law and Pharisees had just dragged a woman caught in adultery before Him and challenged, “In the Law, Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” (v. 5). Because they considered Jesus a threat to their authority, the question was “a trap, to have a basis for accusing him” (v. 6)—and getting rid of Him.

Yet when Jesus replied, “Let any one of you who is without sin . . .” not one of the woman’s accusers could bring themselves to pick up a stone. One by one, they walked away.

Before we critically judge another’s behavior while looking lightly at our own sin, let’s remember that all of us “fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Instead of condemnation, our Savior showed this woman—and you and me—grace and hope (John 3:16; 8:10–11). How can we not do the same for others?

But sad to say Bible Presbyterian Churches, both "Life Bible Presbyterian Church" and "True Life Bible Presbyterian Church" continue to throw stones at each other until today, they said to each other "Gua Suka, I am stronger and spiritual than you, you have to shut up"

Zion Bishan Bible-Presbyterian Church opened door for Christianity Explored

Pastor Dev Menon opened the doors at Zion Bishan Bible-Presbyterian Church for a training and networking session.

Dev introduced Christianity Explored to his congregation 10 years ago and it was great to meet his team and others in Singapore with a desire to reach people with the good news of Jesus.

BPC and KJV

When BPC read KJV, they do not understand the Bible, it is too difficult to understand. They are confused.

It is better for us to read NIV, ESV and NKJV

What a shame

True Life BPC and Life BPC are two churches,

Both are twin brothers in Christ.

Believing in the same Lord, Jesus Christ.

Using the same KJV Bible,

Using the same premises,

Having the same roots in the Bible Presbyterian legacy,

Both call themselves "Reformed Churches".

Using the same languages, mainly English and Mandarin...

One nationality, mainly Chinese Singaporean.

Even after given all these criteria and privileges.

Both BPC cannot see eyes to eyes, cannot be united, but hate one another.

Conclusion.

BPC is using KJV Bible all these years, proven one thing, KJV cannot unite believers. Even you have a perfect Bible, that also cannot unite all the BPC! Because some of you are lustful and carnal, do not understand the Gospel truth. All you like to do is quarreling and criticizing others!

What for pleading a perfect Bible? That Bible cannot help you to see your own weaknesses! What good did you see in KJV?

What a shame!

Septuagint

The Septuagint or LXX (from the Latinseptuāgintā literally "seventy"; sometimes called the Greek Old Testament) is the earliest extant Greek translation of the Hebrew scriptures from the original Hebrew.[1] It is estimated that the first five books of the Old Testament, known as the Torah or Pentateuch, were translated in the mid-3rd century BCE and the remaining texts were translated in the 2nd century BCE.[2] Considered the primary Greek translation of the Old Testament, it is quoted a number of times in the New Testament,[3][4]particularly in the Pauline epistles,[5] by the Apostolic Fathers, and later by the Greek Church Fathers.

Pre-Christian Jews Philo and Josephus considered the Septuagint on equal standing with the Hebrew text.[14][52] Manuscripts of the Septuagint have been found among the Qumran Scrolls in the Dead Sea, and were thought to have been in use among Jews at the time.

The Early Christian Church used the Greek texts[54] since Greek was a lingua franca of the Roman Empire at the time, and the language of the Greco-Roman Church (Aramaic was the language of Syriac Christianity).

In 2006 the International Organization for Septuagint and Cognate Studies (IOSCS) - a non-profit, learned society formed to promote international research in and study of the Septuagint and related texts [80] - declared February 8 "International Septuagint Day",[81] a day to promote the discipline on campuses and in communities.[81] The Organization also publishes the "Journal of Septuagint and Cognate Studies" (JSCS).

At Jesus' time, Jesus did not reject Septuagint, he did not say it is a corrupt text.

At Paul's time, Paul did not reject Septuagint, he did not say it is a corrupt text.

At 2018, BPC rejects NIV and says it is a corrupt text.

BPC likes to quarrel with people

Life BPC and True Life BPC and BPC like to quarrel with people:

Regarding Bible Version, we can only use KJV, if not, you are not saved. Because KJV is translated from the perfect underlying Greek and Hebrew Texts, the TR. Other Bible Versions are all corrupted.

Regarding Tongue-Speaking, you are demon-possessed, if you speaking in an unknown tongue. Tongue Speaking is ended after the Bible is written.

Regarding demon-possessed, you cannot cast out a demon in Exorcism.

Regarding wine drinking, you cannot drink any wine.

Regarding other denominations, they are not faithful, only BPC is faithfully protecting the truth.

BPC can quarrel with anyone, hate one another, fight one another, rebuke one another, curse one another, sue one another in court...They are quarrelsome. They are blind, they did not see this problem!

BPC: War is Business. Quarrel is another Business.

They like to say "Peace upon you", and then they hide a knife behind their back, and then slaughter you softly and tenderly when they are provoked by you. Are you serious? Jeffrey Khoo and Charles Seet

Isaiah 22:13

Isaiah does not absolutely condemn the use of flesh or the drinking of wine, but he condemns the luxury and wantonness by which men are hardened in such a manner that they obstinately set aside God’s threatenings, and treat as false all that the prophets tell them.

John Calvin and William Pringle, Commentary on the Book of the Prophet Isaiah, vol. 2 (Bellingham, WA: Logos Bible Software, 2010), 125.

Isaiah 25:6

Of liquids purified.1 Some render the Hebrew word שמרים, (shĕmārīm,) dregs, but inaccurately, for it means “old wines,” such as the French call, vins de garde, “wines that have been long kept,” and that are preferable to ordinary wines, especially in an eastern country, where they carry their age better. He calls them liquids which contain no dregs or sediment.

John Calvin and William Pringle, Commentary on the Book of the Prophet Isaiah, vol. 2 (Bellingham, WA: Logos Bible Software, 2010), 196.

Isaiah 56:12

Nor does he merely reprove them for drinking wine and strong drink, which in itself is not sinful, but for that mental drunkenness and brutality by which men haughtily and insolently despise the word of God. In other passages drunkenness and the abuse of wine are condemned; but here the Prophet exclaims against the madness and insolence with which pastors exalted themselves against God, and trampled under foot all threatenings, warnings, reproofs, and, in short, all religion. Yet there can be no doubt that he reproves the gross and shameful wickedness of burying reflection, as if on purpose, by excess of wine and feasting, that no shame or fear, no reverence for God or men, might disturb their repose; as ungodly persons do all they can to stupify themselves by unlawful pleasures, that they may more daringly, and with less reserve, abandon themselves to wickedness.

John Calvin and William Pringle, Commentary on the Book of the Prophet Isaiah, vol. 4 (Bellingham, WA: Logos Bible Software, 2010), 191.
