These Bible Presbyterian leaders are disqualified

The leaders in Far Eastern Bible College and Life Bible Presbyterian Church, are disqualified as servant of the Lord. Because the Bible clearly says that the God's servant must not be quarrelsome, but kind, these Bible Presbyterian leaders were suing each other in the lawsuit, they are disqualified and to be expelled to become servant in the kingdom of God. What a shame. 2 Timothy 2:24 (2 Timothy 2) "And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil," ="Greek bondservant" verse 25 "correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, verse 26 and they may come to their senses and escape from xthe snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will. What is the commentary for these Bible verse? 2 Tim. 2:24 Servant is the common word for “slave” or “bondservant” (Gk. doulos), but Paul uses it also to refer to those who preach the gospel, e.g., himself (Rom. 1:1; Gal. 1:10; Titus 1:1) and Epaphras (Col. 4:12). This section (2 Tim. 2:24–26) is a key passage concerning a pastor’s handling of troublesome people in the church. 2 Tim. 2:25 Most interpreters see these opponents as unbelievers who do not have a knowledge of the truth (i.e., salvation). Paul emphasizes the importance of not dealing with such “quarrelsome” people in a “quarrelsome” manner (2 Tim. 2:24) but rather correcting the opponents in a spirit of gentleness (2 Cor. 10:1; Gal. 6:1; Eph. 4:2; 1 Pet. 3:15; cf. gentleness as a fruit of the spirit; Gal. 5:23). This verse further emphasizes the sovereignty of God in granting repentance. 2 Tim. 2:26 come to their senses. Although the fall (Genesis 3) brought about a destructive effect on human reason, salvation brings the ability to begin to see reality. Paul’s regular reference to the false teachers’ lack of knowledge and understanding (e.g., 2 Tim. 2:16, 23; 3:8) points to the fact that they fail to grasp what is really true. the snare of the devil. Paul often describes humanity as enslaved by the devil and in need of rescue (see 2 Cor. 4:4).

The Animal School, Far Eastern Bible College

written by Dr R. H. Reeves:

Once upon a time, the animals decided they must do something heroic to meet the problem of a new world, so they organized a school. They adopted an activity curriculum consisting of running, climbing, swimming and flying. To make it easier to administer, all animals took all the subjects.

The duck was excellent in swimming, better in fact than his instructor, and made excellent grades in flying, but he was very poor in running. Since he was low in running he had to stay after school and also drop swimming to practice running. This was kept up until his web feet were badly worn and he was only average in swimming. But average was acceptable in school, so nobody worried about that except the duck.

The rabbit started at the top of the class in running, but had a nervous breakdown because of so much makeup in swimming.

The squirrel was excellent in climbing until he developed frustrations in the flying class where his teacher made him start from the ground up instead of from the tree-top down. He also developed charley horses from over-exertion he got a C in climbing and a D in running.

The eagle was a problem child and had to be disciplined severely. In climbing class he beat all the others to the top of the tree, but insisted on using his own way of getting there.

At the end of the year, an abnormal eel that could swim exceedingly well and also could run, climb and fly a little had the highest average and was valedictorian.

The prairie dogs stayed out of school and fought the tax levy because the administration would not add digging and burrowing to the curriculum. They apprenticed their children to the badger and later joined the groundhogs and gophers to start a successful private school.

Perfection

1 Cor 13:8

1 Cor 13:8 "Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away." (ESV)

1 Cor. 13:8 Interpreters differ over the time when Paul expects prophecies to pass away and tongues to cease (along with other gifts represented by these examples). The “cessationist” view is that miraculous gifts such as prophecy, healing, tongues, interpretation, and miracles were given to authenticate the apostles and their writings in the early years of the church, but those gifts “ceased” once the entire NT was written and the apostles died (c. a.d. 100). Others hold that Paul expected these gifts to continue until Christ returns, which will be the time when “the perfect” (v. 10) ways of speaking and knowing in the age to come replace the “in part” (v. 9) gifts of this age. Support for the second position is found in v. 12, which indicates that “then” (the time when these gifts will cease) is the time of Christ’s return.

I hold on the second view!

Bible Presbyterian churches have 7 roots?

It is the story of our BP churches, when you looked at them, the thought crossed your mind, that they were like two half-brained people living together.

They must have valued their differences, but they weren't. How much time is spent in confessing other people's sin?

Sameness in not oneness, uniformity is not unity. Unity, or oneness, is complementariness, not sameness. Sameness is uncreative...and boring. The essence of synergy is to value the differences.

Bible Presbyterian churches synod

Most of life is an interdependent, not independent, reality. Most results you want depend on cooperation between you and others.

Do you understand others?

The more deeply you understand other people, the more you will appreciate them, the more reverent you will feel about them. To touch the soul of another human being is to walk on holy ground.

Seek first to understand. Before the problems come up, before you try to evaluate and prescribe, before you try to present your own ideas, seek to understand, then to be understood.

To understand another person, you needed to listen to him. empathic listening.

Bow low Bible Presbyterian Churches!

If you are going to bow, bow very low. Pay the uttermost farthing.

Leo Roskin taught, "It is the weak who are cruel. Gentleness can only be expected from the strong."

To the heretic in FEBC

It is one thing to make a mistake, and quite another thing not to admit it. People will forgive mistakes, because mistakes are usually of the mind, mistakes of judgment. But people will not easily forgive the mistakes of the heart, the ill intention, the bad motives, the prideful justifying cover-up of the first mistake.

Inauguration of the Bible-Presbyterian Church in Singapore on 8th October, 2011

GREETINGS FROM OUR OBSERVER
BIBLE-PRESBYTERIAN CHURCHES
at the Inauguration of the
Bible-Presbyterian Church in Singapore on 8th October, 2011

Mt Carmel B-P Church
The Pastors and Elders of Mt Carmel B-P Church welcome the move to form a B-P Presbytery. We are encouraged by the atmosphere of congeniality, humility and like-mindedness in the deliberations that led to this happy occasion. We also appreciate the Zion pastors for exercising leadership, patience and perseverance in persuading B-P churches to emerge from their immediate congregational pre-occupations and work towards renewal of fellowship and ties. It is an integral part of our Presbyterian heritage that autonomous congregations unite as an ecclesiastical federal assembly for mutual edification, witness and support. At the same time, let us re-discover the Bible-Presbyterian ethos of biblical soundness and separation to maintain organizational purity, but in a ministerial and declarative manner that respects and edifies our churches. Mt Carmel hopes to play its part in a B-P Presbytery that glorifies God and extends His Kingdom.

Faith B-P Church
The inauguration tonight of the Presbytery of the "BIBLE-PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH IN SINGAPORE" is in keeping with the worldwide system of Presbyterianism. May it be our prayer that in due course as the Lord tarries, our B-P Churches will develop more presbyteries to form a "Synod" again.

Galilee B-P Church
Thank God for moving the hearts of the leaders of Zion Serangoon, Zion Bishan, Herald B-P Church and Emmanuel B-P Church to come together to form the new Presbytery of the Bible-Presbyterian Church of Singapore. We had been saddened over the closure of the old Presbytery and Synod in 1988. We thank God for this resurrection and renewal. We pray God that the new Presbytery would be a source of great blessing as it seeks to bring together brethren of like-precious faith under the same umbrella to serve as a united witness in Singapore and to advance God's Kingdom. In these last and darkening days prior to our Lord's return, how necessary it is to have a united body to stand for the truth of God's Word and to speak out against unbelief. May the Lord be pleased to bless the new Presbytery and may more B-P churches be minded to stand unitedly against the inroads of ecumenism, charismatism, unbelief and moral degradation. May God help us. Jude 1:3 "…earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints".

Grace B-P Church
Praise the Lord for the formation of the new Presbytery of the B-P Church in Singapore. We pray that the Lord will bless and prosper the Presbytery. May we see the Lord moving the hearts of all like-minded B-P Churches coming again together one day. It is not impossible. This is only the beginning. (Prov. 3: 5-6)

Hebron B-P Church
Congratulations to the member churches of: Zion Serangoon B-P Church, Zion Bishan B-P Church, Herald B-P Church, and Emmanuel B-P Church, who form the new Presbytery of the BPCS. After 23 years of separated independence, this is a good start for the B-P churches to re-unite together under the banner of the BPCS. Hebron B-P Church supports this Presbytery as an observer church and, we hope that as time goes on, the investment placed into the Presbytery by each B-P church would further unite and strengthen the bonds of friendship and shared common values that will lead to the expansion and growth of the Presbytery for the glory of God. "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen."

Mt Hermon B-P Church
The prayers of Mount Hermon are with the churches inaugurating the Presbytery today. May love and unity like the dew of Hermon fall on the BP churches in Singapore, drawing us all closer to the Lord and to one another (Psalm 133).

Mt Horeb B-P Church
Thanks be to God for the Inaugural Meeting of the Presbytery. We wish to thank Pastor Quek and Pastor David Wong especially for their faithfulness and endurance throughout the process. The Word of the Lord in Ephesians 4:11-16 reminds us of our role as Pastors and Elders. We are to prepare God's people for ministry and to build up the church in unity of faith in Christ Jesus. We will then not be tossed about by every wind of false teachings. May the Lord bless and keep the Presbytery united in love and in truth to the glory of God.

Olivet B-P Church
Greetings in the Precious Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! It is a joy to see fellow pastors coming together to form the new Presbytery. Once again, we are reminded that we are part of a bigger family, where we can fellowship, share, exchange ideas, support and encourage one another. We thank the members of the organizing committee for their perseverance and hard work in laying the groundwork for its formation. The formation of the Presbytery looked dim initially, but the Lord graciously opens the pathway and now, praise the Lord, the Presbytery is being formed. It is my prayer that the Presbytery will be conducted in a better, more effective and biblical manner than the old Synod, upholding both grace and truth which are exemplified by our Lord Jesus Christ (John 1:18). May the Presbytery serve as a common platform for church leaders to come together with the purpose of seeking partnership and discovering efficacious ways to minister to our congregations in this new, challenging and fast changing era. "Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ" (Phil 1:6).

Shalom B-P Church
Today marks a new chapter and milestone of the B-P Church with the inaugural meeting of the Presbytery of the B-P Church in Singapore. We congratulate the four pioneer member churches - Zion Bishan, Zion Serangoon, Emmanuel and Herald - for taking the lead in this initiative, and, by God's grace, be instrumental in the strengthening and unifying of the B-P Church, for the glory of God and the advancement of the gospel ministry. Our prayers and well wishes are with you all. May the Lord's blessing and enabling rest upon each of you - individually and collectively - and may you prosper in all your endeavours. "Let Thy work appear unto Thy servants, and Thy glory unto their children. And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish Thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish Thou it" (Psalm 90:16-17).

Correct Doctrinal Position

The doctrine of the Church shall be in accordance with that system commonly called “the Reformed Faith” as expressed in the Confession of Faith as set forth by the historic Westminster Assembly together with the Larger and Shorter Catechisms.
In abbreviated form the chief tenets of the doctrine of the Church, apart from the Apostles’ Creed, shall be as follows:

1. We believe in the divine, verbal and plenary inspiration of the Scriptures in the original languages, their consequent inerrancy and infallibility, and, as the Word of God, the Supreme and final authority in faith and life;

2. We believe in one God existing in three co-equal and co-eternal Persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit;

3. We believe that Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and is true God and true man;

4. We believe that man was created in the image of God, but sinned through the fall of Adam, thereby incurring not only physical death but also spiritual death, which is separation from God and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature and become sinners in thought, word and deed;

5. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died a propitiatory and expiatory death as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who repent of their sins and believe in Him are justified before God on the grounds of His shed blood;

6. We believe in the bodily resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His ascension into Heaven, and in His exaltation at the right hand of God, where He intercedes for us as our High Priest and Advocate;

7. We believe in the personal, visible and premillennial return of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to judge this world and bring peace to the nations;

8. We believe that salvation is by grace through faith, not by works, and that all who repent and receive the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour are born again by the Holy Spirit and thereby become the children of God;

9. We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and to convict and regenerate the sinner, indwell, guide, instruct and empower the believer for godly living and service;

10. We believe that Christ instituted the Sacrament of Baptism for believers and their children and the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper, which sacraments shall be observed by His Church till He comes;

11. We believe in the eternal security, bodily resurrection, and eternal blessedness of the saved and in the bodily resurrection and eternal conscious punishment of the lost;

12. We believe in the real, spiritual unity in Christ of all redeemed by His precious blood and the necessity of faithfully maintaining the purity of the Church in doctrine and life according to the Word of God and the principle and practice of biblical separation from the apostasy of the day being spearheaded by the Ecumenical Movement (2 Cor 6:14-18; Rev 18:4).

Schism

The English word "schism," which has come to mean a separation, is derived from a Greek word, pronounced sk-his-mah, which means division, although not necessarily a physical separation. It actually means dissension within a group, which may or may not cause physical parting. The King James Version uses "schism" only once:

"12:25 That there should be no schism [i.e. sk-his-mah] in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. 12:26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it. 12:27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular." (1 Corinthians 12:25-27 KJV)
"They which are approved may be made manifest among you"

The original Greek word was written in the Scriptures more than just the one time that the King James translates it as "schism." It is also variously translated as "division" and "rent" (i.e. to divide, or make apart), including by the King James itself which uses the two words in 1 Corinthians i.e. the KJV translates the single Greek word in three ways; "schism," "rent" and "division" or "divisions."

Notice in this example that the "division" was among those living together in the same house (see also Houses Of The Holy).

"1:10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions [i.e. sk-his-mah] among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. 1:11 For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you. 1:12 Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul [i.e. Paul's Ministry]; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas [i.e. Peter's Ministry]; and I of Christ. 1:13 Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?" (1 Corinthians)

The "divisions" described here also involved those of the same house - the House of God.

"11:18 For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions [i.e. sk-his-mah] among you; and I partly believe it. 11:19 For there must be also heresies [see Heretics] among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you." (1 Corinthians 11:18-19 KJV)

In this verse, the King James translates the same Greek word as "rent." Christ's lesson here was that division must be healed, not merely covered up.

"9:16 No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent [i.e. sk-his-mah] is made worse." (Matthew 9:16 KJV)
The coming of The Son Of God was not a "new" religion. It was simply a matter of some of the people recognizing the long-awaited Messiah (see Israelite Monarchy - The Messiah), while others did not - often to a blasphemous extreme (see the verses quoted below). The same Greek word is here translated as "division."

"7:43 So there was a division [i.e. sk-his-mah] among the people because of him." (John 7:43 KJV)
"9:13 They brought to the Pharisees [see also Was Paul Among Them?] him that aforetime was blind. 9:14 And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes. 9:15 Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see. 9:16 Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day [see Did Jesus Break The Law?]. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division [i.e. sk-his-mah] among them." (John 9:13-16 KJV)

"10:17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. 10:18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father. 10:19 There was a division [i.e. sk-his-mah] therefore again among the Jews for these sayings. 10:20 And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him? 10:21 Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?" (John 10:17-21 KJV)

Fact Finder: Many Christian-professing people, and people in the true Church of God, have foolishly claimed to be the "leader" or the "head" of Christ's Church. Who are such people attempting to dethrone with their pompous and arrogant claims?

Statistics

The Far Eastern Bible College (FEBC) is one of the oldest Bible colleges in Singapore, founded in 1962 by the late Rev Dr Timothy Tow, who also founded the Bible-Presbyterian Church movement in Southeast Asia.

Out of 500-600 of those who had graduated from Far Eastern Bible College, only 10%-20% of these graduates became pastors in Bible Presbyterian pastors or church workers, 80%-90% of these graduates went out to serve in other denominations, para churches or continue their study oversea. They did not stay in Bible Presbyterian Churches nor continue their study in Far Eastern Bible College.

This means about 80%-90% of all those who had graduated did not agreed with what they had learned in Far Eastern Bible College, nor they become pastor in Bible Presbyterian Churches! 80%-90% of the graduates did not accept the stand of Far Eastern Bible College nor the Bible Presbyterian Church movement!

You know what these Bible Presbyterian Churches like to say to these fresh graduates, if you do not like Bible Presbyterian movement, just leave us alone! No wonder! The Bible Presbyterian Church movement did not prosper like the Charismatic movement!

Dissolution of the B-P Synod

This post is edited and copied from: http://www.tabernaclebpc.com/?p=541

The Lord has blessed the B-P Churches and by the late ‘80s, there were already 25 B-P Churches formed. With growth, internal differences also arose over the practice of biblical separation. In fact as early as 1968, the Author has already witnessed a dissentious spirit creeping into Life B-P Church. There were some in the Church session who supported Dr. Billy Graham in which the Author pointed out his compromises in his “cooperative evangelism” method. The B-P Synod was dissolved on 30 October 1988. In the statement made about the dissolution of the Synod, the issues were centred on “strong differences in interpreting the Doctrine of Biblical Separation, Fundamentalism, and Neo-Evangelicalism. Concerted attempts were made during the past two years at reconciliation through personal discussions and formal meetings. Even a moratorium failed to resolve these differences and break the impase. Dissolution is accepted as the last resort.

One of these issues is that the Zion-Camel BP Churches maintained that tongues had not ceased, and that these were meaningful ecstatic utterances. It was clear that within the B-P Churches, a liberal camp has entrenched within the Synod. The Author even wrote a book about Charismatism to explain that tongues have ceased and that Holy Spirit revival in Church history such as John Sung’s revival has no mention of tongues at all. In addition, a Pastor within the liberal camp even cast doubts on God’s Word in his writings. An example is that he said we cannot determine whether the Flood was over the whole world or only on a part of it.

With the dissolution of the B-P Churches, each B-P Church will continue to exist with its existing name and autonomy. It is clear that after the dissolution, some B-P Churches are sailing with the neo-evangelical current and into the ecumenical mainstream. Hence today, not all B-P Churches are truly “B-P” in its original founding principles of biblical separation.

Schism led to formation of Bible-Presbyterian Church

By Roland Chia

THE BIBLE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH (BPC) began in the United States in 1937 as the result of a schism caused by the Modernist-Fundamentalist Dispute.

The origins of this dispute can be traced to the inaugural address delivered in 1891 by Charles Briggs, a minister of the Presbyterian Church of the United States of America (PCUSA) to supporters of Union Theological Seminary of New York City. In that lecture, Briggs shocked his audience by questioning and challenging many tenets of the Church, from its understanding of God’s revelation to the authority of Scriptures. This lecture precipitated what is known as “The Modernist-Fundamentalist controversy” that raged for the next 50 years in PCUSA.

Those who were unable to accommodate the alleged theological liberalism of PCUSA left the church to form a new church which treats certain tenets of the Christian faith as non-negotiable while embracing the Presbyterian and Reformed heritage.

Since its inception, the BPC has stood for “ecclesiastical separation”: the view that believers should not join or assist an apostate church. If they are already members of one, ecclesiastical separation teaches that believers should leave that church. Writ large, this principle also maintains that churches should not join denominations or organisations that are not true to Christ or the Bible. It is through “ecclesiastical separation” that Christians, local churches and even denominations strive to remain holy, in obedience to Scripture.

Put differently, “ecclesiastical separation” enables true believers to individually and collectively strive to “earnestly contend for the faith which was once for all entrusted to the saints”. (Jude 3). Article 6 of the Constitution of True Life Bible-Presbyterian Church in Singapore spells this out in concrete terms: “We are opposed to all efforts to obscure or wipe out the clear line of separation between these absolutes: truth and error, light and darkness … We refer to such efforts by New Evangelicals, Charismatic Christians, promoters of ecumenical cooperative evangelism and of the social gospel, and all churches and other movements and organisations that are aligned with or sympathetic to the Ecumenical Movement.”

In Singapore, the BPC movement had its official beginning in 1955 when the English congregation of Life Church, under the leadership of the Rev Timothy Tow and Elder Quek Kiok Chiang severed ties with the Presbyterian Synod. The schism came about because the English congregation opposed the perceived liberalism of the Presbyterian Synod, based on the latter’s affiliations with the Ecumenical Movement and the World Council of Churches.

As Elder Han Soon Juan put it so clearly in the Golden Jubilee Magazine (1950-2000), the leaders in question were “determined that the Life Church English Service be raised as a Polemical Witness for the Faith”. The BPC grew steadily, spawning a number of churches and even establishing a theological institution, the Far Eastern Bible College, in 1962.

However, in October 1988, the Synod of the BPC was dissolved mainly due to “strong differences in interpreting the Doctrine of Biblical Separation, Fundamentalism, and Neo-Evangelicalism”.

Although the BPC acknowledges the Westminster Confession as its doctrinal standard, it has adopted the strictures of fundamentalism. The theological conservatism of the BPC is seen, for instance, in its literal interpretation of the Bible, especially the creation narrative found in the early chapters of Genesis. Rejecting theistic evolution, it teaches that God created the world in six days, which are “not distinguished in length from the six-day work week”.

Accordingly, the BPC also teaches that the flood recorded in Genesis 7 is global, citing the thickness of rock strata found throughout the world as geological evidence. A third example is its view on the millennium. The BPC prefers premillennialism – that Christ, upon his return will reign on earth for 1,000 years – to other millennial views because it is “based on a plain and literal interpretation of Scripture”. According to Christopher Lensch, the BPC initially adopted some elements of dispensational theology, but has in recent years passed a synodical resolution disapproving dispensationalism.

ANOTHER FEATURE that once distinguished the BPC from other churches is its preference for the King James Version (KJV) of the English Bible. The privileging of the KJV is based on the supposition that this translation relied on the Hebrew and Greek texts that were closest to the original autographs of the Bible. There was therefore a period in which the BPC in Singapore used only the KJV in public reading, preaching and teaching. Those who privileged the KJV are also of the view that other versions of the English Bible (e.g., the NIV) are unreliable because they do not provide a literal and accurate translation of the original Hebrew and Greek texts.

Making the sharpest possible distinction between translation and interpretation, BP theologians Timothy Tow and Jeffrey Khoo maintain that because it has adopted the dynamic equivalent approach to Bible translation, the NIV is an inaccurate version that “has attacked the Written Word and the Living Word”. With the dissolution of the Synod of the BPC in Singapore, however, a number of BP churches now use the NIV.

The dissolution of the Singapore synod has brought about a more nuanced view of orthodoxy among some BP churches in Singapore. Perhaps it has helped in some ways to underscore the fact that the apostolic Church is also at the same time catholic, as the ecumenical creeds – the Apostle Creed and the Nicene Creed – profess. Insofar as the catholicity of the Church must be defined as “universality plus identity” and “universality plus continuity”, catholicity always presupposes apostolicity. And insofar as the idea of apostolicity is not static, but also signifies the Church’s dynamic witness, apostolicity always implies catholicity.

The continued presence of the BPC, however, will serve as a reminder to the churches in Singapore of our collective responsibility to faithfully hand down the Faith that we have received from the Apostles, and to courageously guard it against dilutions and distortions.

Dr Roland Chia is Chew Hock Hin Professor of Christian Doctrine and Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies at Trinity Theological College. He worships at the Fairfield Preaching Point in Woodlands.

I am a fundamentalist, preaching the truth in love!

I preached the five fundamental tenets of the Christian faith:

1.The verbal inerrancy of Scripture,
2.the divinity of Jesus Christ,
3.the virgin birth,
4.the substitutionary atonement,
5.the physical resurrection and bodily return of Christ.

I was born as a fundamentalist, but a different fundamentalist, preaching Christ, I must preach the truth in love!

Dr. Martyn Llyod-Jones said, "To me the work of preaching is the highest and the greatest and the most glorious calling to which anyone can ever be called."

Sometimes I pray in an unknown tongue, but don't call me as a cult!

Sometimes I have tea with Anglicans, don't call me as a Neo_Evangelical.

Sometimes I see love and truth must come together, don't call me as a modernist!

Do not call people any how names, because you are becoming a judge!

International Council of Christian Churches wrote

Recently some brethren in Singapore and elsewhere have been promulgating that apart from the verbal plenary inspiration (VPI) and the consequent inerrancy and infallibility of the Holy Scriptures in the original languages of Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, “the words of the Received Greek and Masoretic Hebrew texts that underlie the King James Bible are the very words which God has preserved down through the centuries being the exact words of the originals themselves”. This theory of claiming Verbal Plenary Preservation (VPP) for the KJV’s underlying texts and their exact identification with the Holy Scriptures in the original languages, is without Biblical foundation. This has not been, and is not the position of the ICCC or SCCC or other ICCC-affiliated organizations. The SCCC therefore calls upon its members and all other Bible-believing brethren not to subscribe to this new, Biblically unfounded and unproven theory.

A Call for Unity, Humility, and Christ-Centered Truth

A Call for Unity, Humility, and Christ-Centered Truth   Dear Bible-Presbyterian Church,   I write with a heavy heart and deep concern about ...
